Te Waihou Walkway / Blue Spring

Description

Located near Putāruru, the Blue Spring / Te Waihou Walkway Leslie Road entrance re-opened to the public on Thursday, 5 December 2024, following major works completed over the past 12 months. The track is currently open for approximately 1000 metres from the Leslie Road entrance, allowing access to the main viewing platform.

The full walkway, which is scheduled to open again in February 2025, is 4.7 km long and takes 1hr 30mins one way or three hours for the full loop. It is generally easy walking through privately owned farmland, with a couple of short steep sections. The Blue Spring itself is located towards the Leslie Road end.

The famous Blue Spring provides stunning views of crystal-clear water, which supplies around 70 per cent of New Zealand's bottled water.
