Scottish Country Dancing (SCD) is a social form of Scottish dancing done in sets of 8 dancers, rather than as an individual performance. The music is mostly fiddle and accordion, not the bagpipe music used for Highland Dancing. It still retains some emphasis on footwork, but nothing like the very technical demands of Highland Dancing, which is what most people think of when someone mentions Scottish Dancing. You can come by yourself and just join in. You do not have to have a partner and people are encouraged to dance with a variety of people during the evening. Our members cover all ages from senior adults to children. We are keen to have children as members. It is a great way to maintain fitness in a fun way and for families to participate in an activity all together.
